Heavy Rains Push Fish to New Spots This Week

Heavy rains hit coastal areas this week, pushing freshwater into the bays. Fish are adjusting their positions.

Here’s what local captains are seeing on the water.

Where Fish Moved

Redfish pushed toward higher salinity near passes and inlets. Trout followed the same pattern, stacking in deeper channels with better water quality.

Flounder fishing improved along sandy drops where freshwater meets salt. They’re ambushing bait disoriented by the salinity change.

Adjusting Your Approach

Fish deeper than normal. Most species dropped 2-4 feet below their usual holding depths.

Slow down your retrieve. Cold, murky water means fish strike more cautiously. Give them time to track your bait.

Bright colors help in stained conditions. Chartreuse and pink stand out when visibility drops.

The Outlook

Conditions should stabilize by midweek. Plan trips for Thursday or later when salinity normalizes. The fish will return to their regular haunts.
